Joel’s love for the outdoors began on the water, from camping at Lake Mead and Powell as a child to canoeing in Arkansas as a teenager. After earning a BA in Philosophy and Writing from the University of Central Arkansas, he became a raft guide and has since navigated rivers from California to West Virginia.

Through guiding, he saw the impact that sharing his love of rivers had on people and attended his first river cleanup in 2010. After settling in Colorado in 2011, he became a member of American Whitewater and began seeking more hands-on ways to protect rivers. After a full circle moment of re-entry floating Cataract Canyon into Lake Powell, Joel got more involved with Protect Our Rivers and continues to strive to do more.

As a father, a realtor, and a whitewater enthusiast, Joel knows the impact that the health of rivers and creeks can have on their communities, and how much work there is to be done to protect them for future generations. Joel Wenblad is a broker at Denver’s NAV Real Estate- a proud Protect Our Rivers sponsor.
